Here at the ADD Centre Winnipeg, we offer a number of educational services and individualized programs to help with not only ADD/ADHD but reading and learning difficulties. When part of a multi-modal program neurofeedback, computer cognitive training and academic tutoring is effective and has proven long lasting benefits to students.


NEUROFEEDBACK BRAIN TRAINING:

 

What is Neurofeedback?

This is a way for people, including children, to learn about  what is happening inside their own brain as their state of mind  or awareness changes. This process is also known as EEG (electroencephalographic) biofeedback or brainwave training. 

It provides a tool for the person to learn how re-regulate fuzzy distracted thinking by learning the skill of staying on-task, sustaining concentration and attention in all activities.

 

What conditions is it able to help?

ADHD, Autism, Asperger’s, Anxiety, Learning difficulties, Sleep issues such as teeth grinding, bed wetting, falling asleep and staying asleep, Tourette’s, Performance Enhancement for school, sports, music and work.

 

What are the long term outcomes?

Remediation of inattention, impulsivity, hyperactivity, anxiety, positive behavioral changes, lessening of LD symptoms and improved on task performance at school, work, sport, music and socially. Researchers found long term academic grade point improvements of approximately 1.5 levels with significant improvement in IQ scores.

What is Biofeedback?

Biofeedback is a technique that monitors things like skin temperature, sweating/arousal, breathing, heart rate and blood pressure then provides visual and auditory feedback to train the person how to gain control over involuntary bodily functions such as skin temperature, heart rate, muscle tension, blood flow & pressure and pain perception.

The biofeedback system allows you to "see" or "hear" activity inside your body then you use the power of your thoughts to take control and make positive changes to improve health and physical performance.

 

What issues does Biofeedback help?

Biofeedback training is used to help manage many physical and mental health issues, including: Anxiety or stress, Asthma, High blood pressure, Raynaud's disease, migraine headaches and muscle tension.

 

What are the long term outcomes?

Control of anxiety, panic attacks, stress, improved sleep, lowering of stress related hypertension as part of a multi-modal management program, decreased migraine headaches and improved performance in school, sports, music, socially and at work.
